Why I can't stop thinking about this morning

At exactly 6:22am this morning, it hit me.

And I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

My family and I moved into a 155-year old home a little over an hour outside of Kansas City, Missouri last November.

It's not a ready-to-go home.

More like a tornado hit a construction zone and just left behind exterior walls and a door.

(But she's going to be beautiful when she's done, Reader).

While my husband works on the electrical and putting up the drywall upstairs, I get to work on the landscaping.

Mostly because my husband has ADHD and if I start removing the slats downstairs the monkey in his brain will never forgive me.

And he will feel overwhelmed with all-the-things (he's able to focus on one job at a time this way).

For the last six months we've had piles of lumber, beams, old dresser drawers from the 1900s, enough bricks for the 3 little pigs, and a pile a mile high of boards.

It covered our front porch and make our front yard look, well, nasty.

So every day for the last 2 weeks different pieces have been moved.

The first few days looked like those boards were having babies.

The pile never seemed to end.

Then, yesterday we could see the dirt and dead grass again.

Our yard was clean.

The truth behind our clean yard wasn't overnight. It took all of us working together to make it happen.

This is why I’ll never tell you that my clients made $5K with their list overnight, without sharing the data.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way.

But some business gurus will say, "my client made $125K in six days after signing up for my program and so can you!" without sharing this person had...

...an email list of 79K
...a funnel in place
...over 1M on social media

It's tacky, terrible, and leaves me with a pit in my stomach.

Yes, you can make money online.

But sharing Cinderella stories and selling dreams is hurting people because this leaves them feeling jaded and more confused than before.

Here's what you should do the next time you sell a product to your audience...

It's not smexy and it won't win any awards, but it's the best thing you can do for your business.

Treat every single person as someone worth their infinite value.

A quote hangs in the foyer when you walk into our home.

It's there to remind the kids, but I think we all need to remember,

"The worth of the most inferior soul is worth worlds."

So the next time you're

>selling a product
>encouraging people to sign-up for your monthly membership
>wanting there to be an exchange of cash

share those testimonials with transparency, give realistic expectations, talk to them about the possibilities (with hard work), and don't be afraid to say that things worth doing are done overtime.

Because, isn't that what we're doing right now?

Testing, tweaking, and trying again?

PS. Next week I'll be in the middle of nowhere with our church's young women's camp. I'll be a little slower at responding. If you need me, send me a DM on Instagram (and stick around to watch the Stories. I'm hoping if I stand on my right foot and lean far enough to the left I can get enough service to share some fun pictures and videos with you).

Okay, first things first, if the thought "whaaaat?" just crossed your mind with the "A-A-RON" reference, then you NEED to look up a comedy sketch called "Substitute Teacher by Key & Peele". Full transparency, there is some language in it. I served a mission for my church in Mississippi. The people have some creative names and this video pokes fun at the creative spellings and pronunciations of names. 😆 So, the big question: how did Disney "mess up"? Well, if you think storytelling in your...

Rewind to Wednesday, 7:38PM. I thought the poor guy's hand was going to be blown off...or at least look like it went through a cheese grader. Youth night brought out the pyro-fire lovin' people in our group. And this young man was leading the way. He took a long bottle rocket, lit the fuse, and within a few seconds the thing started sparking in his hand and (thankfully) shot up and away. Between you and me, angels were watching over him. But I can't blame him for his contagious enthusiasm for...

Just so you know, Reader, my 3 year-old has the habit of sneaking into my bed at night. Usually I wake up with a chubby arm around my neck and a small puddle of drool by my cheek. Last night Flynn came to my side of the bed. (He still hasn't forgiven me for leaving him for girl's camp for a week. My momma heart breaks for him - the poor guy.) Last night he came in but with slurry words and half asleep questions. "I go with you mommy. And will you come with me?" I knew he was half asleep (I...
